Jason's Bio
Family
Jason is married and has a little boy on the way. His wife’s name is Shannon
and his future son’s name will probably be Aidan or Ethan. Their son is due
to arrive somewhere between March 3rd and March 6th. Jason’s sister, Jennifer
is hoping for March 3rd because that is her birthday. All three of them live
in Gardner, Kansas on 10 acres of land with Drake and Cody, their dogs, and
Tigger, their cat. Jason is the second oldest of four children. He has an older
sister, Jennifer, and two younger brothers, Jeremy and Joshua. His parents are
Robert and Mary Jane. Jason also has one niece, Elizabeth, his sister’s daughter.
Except for his little brother, Joshua, everyone lives relatively close by in
the Johnson County area. His youngest brother, Joshua, still lives in Manhattan,
attending K-State. Jason is part of a large extended family. He grew up with
five uncles and six aunts and a plethora of cousins. Most of the family lives
within a few hours of each other, so we often get together for special occasions
and holidays. Usually in a rented hall or other large facility!
Their House
Work started in late 1999 and finished
in May of 2000. Jason and Shannon built the house from the ground up. They contracted
out some of the big work, but primarily built it with the their own sweat and
those of close family and friends. Their hard work paid off and now they live
in a beautiful house in the country. Jason always wanted to build a house with
his brother, Jeremy. When Jason was about eight years old, him and his brother
Jeremy, about five years old, built a “playhouse” in the back yard of their house
in Topeka, KS. The “house” was decked out. Just down the road, a neighbor tore
down a detached garage and the boys scavenged all they could to erect their masterpiece.
They found boards, nails and even shingles. When it was completed, it had a trap
door in the roof and shingles. His dad still remembers looking for the boys and
discovering the 2” nails sticking out from the roof. That’s what they had used
to fasten the shingles to the roof! Well, the next day the boys spent hammering
out the rusty old nails per their father’s request . . . He did a much better
job the second time.
Canyon Stone
Jason recently left his full time job to pursue a career in his own business,
Canyon Stone. He and his business partner sell and install the faux stone that
people typically have installed on the front of their houses, on business buildings
and on fireplaces and retaining walls. Jason and his crews start early in the
morning (crazy early, like 5am!) and work late, long hours.
Growing Up
Jason was and is an active person. Since he was a child, he was into everything
and always doing something, usually mischief as a child. As a child, he was
infamous for pestering his uncles and other adults with the question, “why?”
I’m sure his son will return the favor! Smart and very athletic, Jason could
usually beat or at least hold his own at any sport. Growing up with such a close,
large family seemed to have fostered his competitiveness and he still wants
to be the best at everything he does.
